This is a hotel review for High Life Holiday Village in Kyrenia, North Cyprus
“What a great, unexpected surprise!”
My boyfriend booked a stay at the High Life Holiday Village as a cheap summer getaway. We'd not had much time to save so couldn't afford anything lavish. However, when we expected a 3 star hotel and got 4 star standard, we were really impressed.
The High Life was really beautiful, particularly the terrace on which you can eat your meals or just have a relaxing drink. The views were stunning and it was really romantic. It certainly encouraged us to eat there in the evening when our tariff was bed and breakfast only. We did have some meals in nearby Kyrenia and we really enjoyed these, especially because Kyrenia is so picturesque. However, we were tempted on most nights to chill out on the hotel terrace.
Our room was a really good size and was kept very clean, with fresh towels every day. The décor wasn't ultra modern, with some dated features, but none of it was objectionable. The only thing I was disappointed with was having twin beds rather than a double. We did put this down to late availability though as we booked relatively last minute.
The staff at the High Life Village were really friendly. They were so attentive and we spent some evenings just chatting to them as friends. We felt that nothing was too much trouble for them and they seemed to have this attitude to all the guests.
We spent a lot of time around the hotel pool which was very well maintained and never too busy. We did venture down to the hotel's private beach on one occasion but were a bit disappointed about its size and appearance. In a way it was good because it forced us to explore our surroundings where we might have been inclined to laze around on the beach every day. When we did explore, we were really surprised at how much history Kyrenia has to offer.
I have to say that it was a bonus not having young children running around the hotel. Even if they were allowed, it wouldn't be the ideal place for a family. This hotel is definitely for couples or friends who want a quiet getaway. For the price it, can't be faulted. We expected far less than we got!
Liked — The hotel's value for money
Disliked — the twin beds
