Denizkizi Royal Hotel Review - 4 of 44 Reviews

At the Denizkizi, I booked a room at the 3 star hotel, hoping that we might be able to sneak into the bigger 4 star hotel if need be. No sneaking required, as the two hotels operate as one, and guests can move freely between the two. This actually proved to be a real bonus for us 3 star guests, as we could use the enormous pool with its fancy waterfall, the grounds, the beach, the beachfront restaurant, the lot, and not feel like we shouldn't have been there.

The private beach really was a joy, just a short stroll down the gardens and there you were, just like the brochure said. You can walk right round to the rocky headland, and then stroll back for a snack from the beach bar - very civilized!

The two hotels cover quite a large chunk of the headland, so you could easily spend a week here and not really need to leave the grounds. However, we took a couple of excursions (Famagusta - great, Karpas - bit dull as one wild donkey looks very much like another). We shared a taxi with another couple we met at reception into Kyrenia for a day's shopping, which turned into a very long boozy lunch by the harbourside and a bit of retail therapy at the end!

Our room was typical 3 star - comfy, clean but nothing special and a bit tired, but the rest of the hotel facilities were nice, so who cares? Food was also good as the owners are also restaurateurs, but not all the restaurant were open every night so you needed to check.

A good chillout week with plenty of good food and beers, so we were happy.
