Cratos Premium Hotel Review - 2 of 29 Reviews

We decided to visit North Cyprus a little later than our usual September holiday so we could try out the Cratos Hotel - and it was definitely worth the wait.

The Cratos is a luxurious hotel both in scale and facilities, and our room was enormous, complete with a sitting room area with a tv, ad another tv in the bedroom itself. Our room overlooked the pool area, which also meant we were looking across the pool at the rooms on the far side, but we never saw anyone else on their balcony!

The pool area was a bit of a disappointment, as there are bedrooms on three sides and you do feel rather overlooked, but on the plus side, it does shelter you from any wind. The sunbeds were pushed together in rather formal rows as a result, and we imagine that in the summer, it could get crowded. In early November, needless to say, there was no worries!

We very much enjoyed the food at the Eden buffet, and there was always plenty of choice. We also ate down at Port Cratos one night, but only once, because the lighting back to the hotel was so poor, you couldn't see the path. Having visited North Cyprus several times before, we have some favourite local restaurants, and reception was more than happy to book us a taxi to these.

I was tempted by the spa but not by the prices, and instead we relaxed with a pint in the Irish bar, which was fun if a little incongruous! Generally, drinks were expensive (we expected as much) so we did what I suspect a lot of guests do, and stocked up on bottled water, soft drinks and snacks at the new supermarket just outside the gates.

We enjoyed our taste of five star luxury, but for us, four days of incessant background music and the background whiff of drains in certain areas were more than enough.

Liked — good room, excellent facilites, big public areas
Disliked — drinks prices, background music, smell of drains!
