Bogaz Hotel Review - 9 of 10 Reviews
This is a hotel review for Bogaz Hotel in Famagusta, North Cyprus
“Not the best hotels in town”
We chose to book a room at the Bogaz Hotel because we were interested in finding somewhere to stay in Northern Cyprus for the lowest possible cost and the Bogaz website had promised us a comfortable stay.
Upon arrival I think it is fair to say that we were distinctly underwhelmed. My husband and I were checked-in to a room where the only view from the window was of the hotel's waste dump. We also found the room to be lacking several things we were told we could expect to be there: both the kettle and the hairdryer were missing and we weren't impressed with the state of the room. It was a disappointing start to our trip.
Eventually we decided to pay an additional fee for a room upgrade, which is when things started to look up. The hotel staff (who were very helpful and friendly the entire time- despite our lackluster room) moved us directly into a room with a beautiful view of the sea and which had both a kettle and a hairdryer as promised. The pool was closed, but we had a great time exploring the various beaches in the region nevertheless. The hotel is across the road from several restaurants, and these are well worth the occasionally difficulty crossing because of traffic. The outside dining areas at these restaurants are perfectly positioned so that customers can see the beach whilst they eat.
For an incredibly cheap hotel, the Bogaz wasn't at all bad, although we felt that we wouldn't have been happy unless we had paid extra to upgrade our room.
Liked — great time exploring the area
Disliked — initial room was poor
