Bogaz Hotel Review - 2 of 10 Reviews

Bogaz is what North Cyprus was like before the development boom, but that doesn't mean its been left behind. The Bogaz Hotel was a real surprise - we'd expected something tired and basic, but since its renovation its really turned out nicely. Inside its trying to be Boho chic, and sort of getting there, but outside its still a beachside hotel next to the fishing harbour.

Our room was nice, surprisingly big, with a double and a single bed, and was overlooking the sea with a little balcony. Decor was a bit overblown with loads of colour, but the beds were comfy and the bathroom clean. The tv took over the dressing table area, which was a bit odd! Other guests were really complaining about their rooms, so we might have been lucky to get a recently renovated one?

Loved sitting outside for breakfast on the terrace watching the boats come in, and we spent much of the day here in the heat too - perfect place to chill out. The beach below was dominated by sunloungers, most of which had seen better days, but it was fine for relaxing and watching the waves.

Bogaz is just a small village, with a couple of restaurants, but a genuine part of the non-tourist side of North Cyprus. From Bogaz its an easy drive into the Karpas and an interetsing drive down to the big beaches. Famagusta is great, really buzzy in the new town and the old part with the walls is amazing.

Bogaz already has its villa developments creeping up the hillsides; visit now before they reach the sea!
