We booked our stay through Go North Cyprus; Sue was particularly helpful especially when our airline carrier withdrew from flying from Gatwick. Taxi transfer from Larnaca was waiting to meet us and the driver expedited a smooth access to North Cyprus.

The Bellapais Monastery Village reception staff (Hussein) was very welcoming. We got to our mini villa and discovered a double bed when we had booked two singles; one phone call and Hussein moved us three villas along, the luggage arrived swiftly via Saeed.

We stayed for 11 days on a B&B basis but ate in the Hotel on four occasions; the Steak Diane (although not the same recipe as used in the UK) was superb. Information from the reception staff (Lisa, Hussein & Mustapha) was very helpful and informative whether recommending a restaurant, somewhere to visit or just phoning for a taxi.

Praise also for the restaurant and bar staff; Maten (?), Mohammed, Joyce, Mehmet, Mark, Saeed, all of whom never forgot a preference or a room number!

The cleaning staff did an excellent job keeping the bedroom, lounge and bathroom clean and tidy. The friendly gardener also did an excellent job.

The only downside of our stay was the steps; there are a lot of steps - far more than we were led to expect. We did find an alternative route around the steps which involved using a massive slope and entrance to the restaurant via the road outside of the pool area. I have bad knees and my husband has a dicky ankle!

We would stay again if we could stay much further down the slope.
