Bellapais Monastery Village Review - 15 of 65 Reviews

My husband and I decided very last minute that we could squeeze a few days off work and take a week holiday before the new year and Cyprus seemed a nice choice as neither of us had been here before. Having read the reviews on this site we finally decided on the Bellapais Monastery Hotel. We'd like to think that both of us are well travelled, so as you might imagine, we judge the places we stay quite rigorously! Never before have we found hotel staff to be so pleasant and generally cheerful, almost as though they enjoy working!

We stayed in a bugalow style room which turned out to be quite comfortable and extremely clean. The shower was always very hot and it was a breath of fresh air not to have to complain about the cleanliness of a room! Hotel staff changed the towels and sheets every day without fail and did a general tidy as they went around. The only thing about this hotel that could be seen as a negative is the location. Although very nice and relaxing, it is a little far out if you intend on spending much time in the town centre. However the hotel do provide a bus free of charge in to the village nearby. Yet on the positive side of things, there are some wonderful sea views and its a quiet place to stay and unwind.

The hotel itself has two pools and a nice bar which although not huge, does provide a place to sit and have a drink with your partner or friends. We chose to hire a car and explore a little, which was good fun and we'd recommend this as a cheap option to a tour of the island. Most of the locals were very friendly and happy to point you in the right direction to see the sights! This was an enjoyable trip and we'd suggest this to anybody.
