Altinkaya Holiday Village Review - 6 of 50 Reviews

Third visit to Northern Cyprus and I wasn't thrilled with this hotel. We arrived late in the evening and were shown to a room that wasn't very clean. The furniture and fixtures were stained and had a build-up of old grime that caused me to question our decision to stay here. I asked for a different room and we were shown to one only slightly less grimy. I still wasn't happy but it was very late so we made the best of it for one night. The next morning I expressed my discontent with the accommodations and told the clerk that if we couldn't be moved to a cleaner room, we'd move to another hotel. This time they offered us a bungalow and it seemed to be in good shape so we accepted this offer and chose to stay here, as it would have been an ordeal to change hotels at this point. I did notice that some rooms were being refurbished and someone mentioned that they've been working on refurbishing for quite awhile but are getting it done rather slowly. My advice is to ask for a newly refurbished room upon booking; otherwise you're likely to be disappointed.

Other than the original problem with the room, everything else seemed to be in good shape and we ended up having a great vacation after all. The food was superb. They have fixed menus and also ala carte options, so there are plenty of choices. We ended up eating at the hotel more often than we originally intended, simply because the food at the altinkaya holiday village was so delicious.

Once all the refurbishments are complete, I expect this will be a delightful place to stay in North Cyprus. Until then, just be specific about your expectations on the room in order to get a nicer one.
