Not knowing what to expect having never visited Northern Cyprus before I came here with an open mind and have to say, both myself and my wife were very very impressed. We'd read that the hotel was family run and wanted to book somewhere with a bit of atmosphere. Arriving on the 1st of August we knew it was likely to be a busy period but that didn't worry us. As it happens the resort was lovely and lively. The Altinkaya resort was located really close by to a range of restaurants which we loved. It also offered a good base to take a decent walk from (we love walking so this worked well for us). The local town centre was Kyrenia – although we only visited once it seemed a nice enough place to be.

Although there were plenty of children at the resort, it wasn't a problem and I'd honestly suggest this is a great place for couples and families alike. The accommodation was bungalows and kept very clean. All the mod cons and very comfortable surroundings. There is a main hotel building but I couldn't say what the rooms were like inside. I'd say if they're anything like the rest of the resort, there'll be no complaints at all. The pools all had bars and were very busy all day long, it was the busiest season but still there was plenty of space so it didn't feel too cramped. I will be looking to come back in a year or two and next time try the main hotel itself. The price was right and the attention to detail was undeniable. Overall very happy with our stay.
