Almond Holiday Village Review - 2 of 56 Reviews

We booked the Almond Village because I like to have everything on site for my summer holiday, and the Almond delivered all that and more. We had a nice little villa (one bedroom upstairs) and it was nice and cool in the summer heat. I spent most of my time either just sitting on my villa terrace in the shade or roasting myself by the side of the pools. Thank goodness too for the bar - it was really hot and you needed to have a cool drink just to stop drying out. Everywhere was kept clean and tidy, and the gardens were lovely and shady.

Our villa was kept really clean and we go fresh towels every other day, just as well in the heat. The bathroom was small, but at least the shower worked well, not a dribble as so often happens during the summer in the Med.

The village is quiet at night, with not much going on, so we decided to go into Alcanak which was a bit more buzzy. The TV in the room was a washout - everything was in Turkish!!

We didn't bother to hire a car, as you don't need one unless you want to rush around sightseeing, and it was really too hot for that. The road into Alsancak had no pavements and was hot and dusty, so we took a taxi in which was far more comfortable and certainly safer than walking back in the dark. We took a taxi into Kyrenia for a meal one evening which was lovely but more pricey than we expected for drinks and the meal - you pay for the location.

If you like peace and quiet, ask for accommodation away from the bar, which was noisy at night. Also, don't bring your own drinks to the side of the pool, as the management don't allow it. Some guests complained that even thoguh they had a kitchenette in their villa, as they were staying B&B they weren't allowed to eat on their own balconies - surely not?
