Alkan Hotel Review - 5 of 15 Reviews

We just returned from spending a week at the Alkan Holiday Village in North Cyprus and here's what we thought. Since this was our first trip to this area, I can't compare this hotel to others, but I can say that it was one of the best vacations I've ever had. The Alkan Holiday Village is a good distance outside of town, so if you are looking for entertainment that is within walking distance, this probably isn't ideal for you. However, if like us, you are looking for peace and quiet and a restful atmosphere, the Alkan provides all of that in a beautiful and tranquil setting.

The Alkan is located across the road from the ocean, so that made it ideal for us, as we enjoy long walks along the beach. We were given a large bungalow with a veranda and an ocean view, a full kitchen, and an upstairs bedroom. The place was clean and all plumbing and appliances worked great. I was really amazed by the amount of space in the bungalow. We never felt crowded or as if we were in close quarters. In fact, it was very comfortable. There was an air conditioner if we'd needed it, but the weather was perfect and we even slept with the windows open at night and listened to the sound of the surf.

The Alkan has a pool as well as close access to the ocean, so if you prefer to spend time at the pool, it's very clean and well-maintained, as well as being aesthetically pleasing.

There's a great restaurant on site and we ate there every morning for breakfast and occasionally chose to eat our evening meal there as well. The food was wonderful and everything seemed carefully prepared and arranged on the plate just so, as if the chef wanted to make sure the food looked as good as it tasted. The wait staff were fantastic and we applaud how well they handled the crowds during the rush times. In fact, the entire staff at the Alkan were wonderful.

The only downside (besides the distance from town) is the fact that the road in front of the hotel is heavily traveled and during peak travel times, the traffic noise can be a little distracting. However, once rush hour is over, it usually quiets down. We'll be back to Northern Cyprus soon.
