Alkan Hotel Review - 10 of 15 Reviews

I went with my husband last year to visit some friends and family in Kyrenia, Northern Cyprus. Choosing a hotel there would have involved a bit of guesswork as there are so many to pick from, so we used Go North Cyprus Holidays which I found after a google search. They pointed us in the direction of the Alkan Hotel.

Immediately we were taken by the hotel's location (very close to the beach) which has always been a major priority for us when choosing accommodation. This meant we had to compromise in terms of distance from the downtown area, which was fine because incidentally the 30-minute drive includes some beautiful scenery. The chalet/bungalow that we chose was more than adequate for our requirements- plenty of space for two people to live comfortably, and clean to boot. We didn't use the kitchen much, but it was well-equipped; the view was also excellent and the cable television was a welcome luxury.

The bungalow was in the proximity of a major road, which (if we were being picky) we might have pointed out as a fault. In the daytime it does get a little noisy with a high volume of traffic, but this tends to reduce greatly at night, barely louder than the sea itself.

We ate in the Turtle Beach restaurant, which belongs to the hotel, every morning for breakfast and twice for dinner during our visit. We found the food to be consistent in terms of quality, which was high. The staff there were quick to help if we had any special requests and spoke good english for the most part. This is where the Alkan really sets itself apart from the average Mediterranean hotel. The owners especially are attentive and friendly and set a brilliant example for their staff to follow- which they do with aplomb. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone heading out to the Northern side of Cyprus this year!
