Acapulco Beach Club Hotel Kyrenia North Cyprus

This is a hotel review for Acapulco Beach Club Hotel in Kyrenia, North Cyprus

“Fantastic hotel, entertainment & food let it down - very expensive”

We went to the Acapulco hotel as we were looking for a North Cyprus holiday as we wanted to see wild turtles.

It was near a turtle projest so we were not disapointed, the hotel however turned out to be a bit of a let down...

We arrived late at night and were overawed at the hotel, it was huge, spotlessly clean and the staff were attentive and polite, we we delighted and it appeared great value for money.

We were shown to our room which was outside of the hotel in little bungalows - the only option available as we are a family of 4.

The bungalows are tiny but comfortable enough, they were badly signposted so we got lost more than once!

The next day we went to breakfast which was very disapointing, there was a vast amount of food but the quality wasnt great, there was also no choice for childrens drinks, there was water and tea & coffee, but no fruit juice, there was some squash which was disgusting and full of additives, if you wanted fresh orange juice you had to pay for it and it was way overpriced, there was tea and coffee but you had to queue and there were people pushing in, the buffet restaurant was chaos, again people pushing in and they stopped dead on 10 which wasnt long enough for everyone to eat, weekends got even busier and it was pandamonium.

However we then went to the pool which my 5 year old insisted was actually a lake, and he wasn't far off, it was huge!

We had no trouble getting a sun lounger which had huge umbrellas, essential in the 40 degree heat.

The pool was stunning, again spotlessly clean and there is a waiter service from the bar, however the drinks are very, very expensive....

Dinner isnt served until 7pm, so you had to buy lunch which again was very expensive, but the portions were huge so could be split between two, the hotel is isolated so you have no choice but to eat and drink there, they have a captive market and take full advantage, having said that they have Taxi's so you can get out and about, it worked out cheaper to get a taxi to a restaurant and eat and drink than pay for drinks at the hotel.

Dinner was the same, pushing and shoving, there was no structure and every day the food was the same, by the end of two weeks we were so fed up!

Still, the night was so warm so we thought we'd share a bottle of wine, how wrong we were!

They have a limited amount and it is undrinkable, they charged 35 lira for a cheap nasty bottle of wine that we left - we found the same bottle in a supermarket for 9 lira, so we decided to go to the evening entertainment.

They had a mini disco that our 5 year old loved, but then the entertainment came on at a deafening level, we couldnt stay so went to another bar, there they had a singer that was dire, she sounded like a eurovision song contest reject, again played at such a loud volume it was impossible not to be deafened by her, you couldnt have a conversation even at the other end of the bar.

The daytimes were great, the private beach was well maintained as was the pool, and we had a fantastic time, but for me I like to have a nice meal, glass of wine and maybe some entertainment in the evenings, but we were left with nothing to do, and the cost of snacks and drinks was astronomical.
