Vouni Palace Hotel Review - 17 of 22 Reviews

My husband and I booked a stay to the Vouni Palace, Kyrenia, mostly because it's a five star hotel. When we go away we like luxury as feel like our accommodation has to be better than home, otherwise it's not worth staying there. We were really looking forward to our holiday and the size of the Vouni Palace gave us hope that it would be really good. We were, unfortunately, disappointed. The whole place was distinctly average and certainly not what you'd expect from a five star hotel.

The best thing about our stay was the room. It was clean and spacious, with a lovely view; however, it was situated away from the main hotel block, which meant we had to walk between the blocks to get to breakfast each morning. It wasn't a problem but on one of the mornings we had rain.

The Vouni Palace Hotel has a large, busy casino. We had a fantastic night when we visited it but for the rest of the holiday we just felt like the whole hotel centred on the casino. The guests staying at the hotel for gambling purposes appear to be treated as more important than others as they get to stay in the main block. Although this could be in order for other guests to get peace and quiet as I'd imagine that it could get quite loud in the main block at night. The hotel pool was wonderful and we did have enough good weather to use it. It was, however, the only source of entertainment the hotel had besides the casino.

Despite being a little disappointed in the Vouni Palace, we did have a lovely holiday. It was our first visit to Kyrenia and we were really impressed! It also helped that we booked through www.gonorthcyprus, who were so very helpful. Their agent, Mandy, told us about so many places to visit and recommended the best restaurants. In the end, the hotel became insignificant.
