Sofia Boutique Hotel Review - 1 of 9 Reviews
This is a hotel review for Sofia Boutique Hotel in Kyrenia, North Cyprus
“Best for budget travellers”
Our stay at the Sofia Hotel definitely came under the heading of "cheap and cheerful'. The hotel was cheap, the staff were cheerful, and the location perfect for us townies, right in the middle of Kyrenia. After reading some reviews, we made sure we got a room in the new building, and so avoided some of the maintenance-deprived older room problems such as water leaks and cold rooms. On the other hand, the bathroom was not really clean, the tv was on its last legs, and the steep steps to the rooms really slippery when wet - watch your step after a night of beers!
Breakfast was uninspired and always the same, so after three days of cereal, cheese, bread and eggs of the day, we chose instead to find a local harbourside café for local Turkish coffee and pastries in the sunshine. We didn't eat in the hotel because there were so many good local restaurants and bars, not to mention enormous kebabs at Niazi's!
Having asked around, we might have got a better deal at a resort hotel, in that the food and room standard might have been better, but I doubt we could have got a better located hotel for the price. We didn't need a car, we could stagger home easily after a boozy night out, and the staff were really friendly. A result in our books!
