Ship Inn Hotel Review - 22 of 40 Reviews

We stayed at the Ship Inn over the Easter weekend on half board basis.

The hotel is about 1.5km from Kyrenia(Girne) centre and is set in excellent grounds and has a large outdoor swimming pool. There is also an indoor pool and gym but that was not in use during our stay.

The room we were allocated was well furnished and clean (though we found that sometimes the room was not cleaned until well into the afternoon) so we were hovering about waiting for it to be done.

The evening meal was a bit repetitive and the selection of dishes was not wide though the food when it arrived was always hot. For anyone staying for longer periods at the Ship Inn we would anticipate that the same meals would appear on a regular basis though a more extensive a la carte menu was available. The self service buffet breakfasts (served between 8.00 a.m-10.00 a.m) were also repetitive as the same meal was on offer every day. We found that whatever time you went the hot food (eggs, sausage, beans ) was always cold/lukewarm so settled for tea and toast instead.

The Internet provision was poor as WiFi was only available in the pool bar area and the hotel lobby. Even in the hotel lobby reception seemed to be limited to a particular corner near to the reception desk particularly in periods of high demand.

As this was our first visit to the North we used our days to travel around the area and did not make use of the sunbeds and pool area though we could see that they were widely used by other guests and that there seemed to be plenty of sunbeds.

The hotel is good but it could improve by revamping its cleaning schedule (for example we noticed that though breakfast was served from 8.00 a.m the cleaners only arrived to clean the lobby at 7.55 a.m). Also more attention to the evening menus and self service breakfast. Investment in improved WiFi facilities would also be a step in the right direction with availability in bedrooms as standard.
