My boyfriend and I came into some money so decided to treat ourselves with a 2 week holiday to North Cyprus. We were looking for the best and the Rocks Hotel seemed to fit the bill. Before going, we were ever so slightly wary about the quality of the hotel in comparison with 5 star UK hotels, but upon arrival our doubts flew out of the window. The hotel was beautiful.

Kyrenia appealed to use because we wanted picturesque scenery with a scattering of history rather than row upon row of British run pubs, however, saying that, we did want entertainment and excitement. What we loved about the Rocks Hotel was that on one hand we had the beauty and history of Kyrenia but at the same time we had plenty of entertainment in the hotel to keep us occupied.

The spa area in the hotel was fantastic, with a large indoor pool area with sauna, Turkish bath etc. We also loved the thrill of visiting the casino and it was to be expected that drinks etc would be pricey. For us it was perfect but I could imagine that the loud music and vibrancy of the hotel may not appeal to an older couple or young family. The hotel rooms were spacious and absolutely spotless, as was every other part of the hotel. The staff were attentive enough but not overly friendly; this suited us as we didn't want fuss.

The sea view from our room was just gorgeous and several times we were keen to go and explore the hotel's surroundings. The hotel has its own beach but unfortunately this was a little disappointing. I'm guessing that this is due to its position, but the sea never looked particularly clean and we were just pleased that it wasn't hot enough for us to crave a dip in the water because we didn't fancy going in. Despite the hotel being expensive and the sea being unattractive, were thoroughly pleased with our stay and would definitely return if we ever get the opportunity.
