This hotel is one of the more expensive ones in northern cyprus (Kyrenia), with a higher price tag than most, so when my husband and I stayed here recently, I expected much more and was somewhat disappointed. The rooms were outdated and badly needed upgrading. The carpet in our room was stained and dirty, the fixtures in the bathroom leaked, the grout was dirty, and the furnishings were old. Also, we booked during the off-season when rooms were only 50% full, so we figured we might get a decent room with a better view. Instead, we were given a room in the back with a view of the dumpsters. I'm surprised they didn't give us a better room, considering they must have had some better ones available.

In other ways, the rocks hotel is very nice. The lobby is plush, breakfasts were wonderful with a very extensive selection, and the staff is great. Our rooms were cleaned daily and the staff didn't wake us up early in order to do it either – they waited until they saw we were out before coming in to clean. I appreciate little things like that, so in that respect, I was impressed. The other good thing about the rocks hotel is it's proximity to the harbor. We enjoyed quite a bit of good sightseeing because of the location of this place. We also ordered room service a time or two and were impressed with the speedy service there, too.

However, the rooms needed updating so badly that it completely took away from the experience. This hotel was rated 5 stars, so although we did receive 5 star service, the hotel itself is not a 5 star hotel when you consider the shabbiness of the rooms. Next time we are thinking of booking somewhere else, as we prefer nicer rooms to convenience of sightseeing in northern cyprus.
