Pia Bella Hotel Review - 60 of 149 Reviews

I was left with mixed feelings after staying at the Pia Bella in northern Cyprus. We had never been to Cyprus before, so we were completely unsure of what to expect really- in terms of the reception of tourists by locals as well as the nature of the culture there and the standard of living. We booked on a recommendation through a travel company called Gonorthcyprus and actually found it one less thing to worry about! On arrival we found the country to be beautiful and the locals extremely welcoming, but the hotel itself was a bit of a mixed bag.

On a positive note, the staff at the Pia Bella do their job really well. They were well-equipped with suggestions on where to go and how to get there, as well as the best (and cheapest) local bars. The food was also generally a plus-point; freshly cooked English breakfasts accompanied by optional yoghurt, fresh fruit and cereal. We found the location to be incredibly convenient too, with good views of the surrounding landscape.

Unfortunately, there were also some negative points that are worth bearing in mind. Firstly, the decoration of the interior left quite a bit to be desired. Considering that Cyprus is an extremely bright, sunny place during the Summer months the management at the Pia Bella have chosen very dark wooden ornamentation and furniture, and some ill advised colour-choice for the walls. Overall, this produces a fairly claustrophobic effect which is compounded by the fact that some of the rooms lack balconies. Ou have Other things to bear in mind include the fact that there's no shallow part of the pool (worth knowing if you have children) and the drinks at the hotel bar are very expensive.

We imagine that the Pia Bella would be perfect for some families, but for us personally there was a little too many negatives to warrant returning at the current prices.
