“Pia Bella Hotel - very pleasant and well placed”
We got an amazingly cheap deal that far exceeded our expectations for a post christmas break. We opted to use GoNorthCyprus.com for our booking as we've used them previously and it went very well indeed. The reservations manager is a pleasant and cheerful woman who had a lot of local knowledge and placed us in a great hotel for our needs. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful; even though the rooms were basic there wasn't anything that we had to ask for. We stayed for two weeks at the beginning of January as North Cyprus is a favourite place of ours to visit. The one complaint that I do have is that the food wasn't that nice so we ate out instead.
What I did find strange was that there were loads of tourists who didn't really do much other than sit around the hotel and moan about the food. Quite odd behavior if you ask me because there is so much to do in North Cyprus that you are spoilt for choice. You can hire a car for £18 per day, which is a fantastic rate considering the fact that it also includes the damage waiver fee. We found it very easy to get around with a map purchased from the tourist information center located at the harbour. The harbour is very close to the hotel, it's only a 15 minute walk, and it's a lovely place to visit. There is a really nice restaurant there called the Park Green, you will find it just near the roundabout. There are also some really nice bars and shisha cafes on the waterfront that you can visit. Another nice place to visit is the Tango to Buddha bar, its only 2 minutes walk from the hotel literally as soon as you come out you turn right and it's just there. You do need to dress up for it, and it's a bit more expensive than other places but it's well worth it.
There are some really nice places to visit such as the St Hilarion castle and the Bellapais monastery; they are both stunning and located very close to the hotel. A little further away Nicosia, Famagusta, and the Ancient Salamis, if you drive up the Karpas Peninsula you will get to experience the scenic white sandy beaches, wild donkeys, as well as monastery.
All in all we were very impressed, and we will definitely make a second visit.
