Pia Bella Hotel Kyrenia North Cyprus

This is a hotel review for Pia Bella Hotel in Kyrenia, North Cyprus

“Oasis of calm”

We visited the Pia Bella for the third time for two weeks in August/September. Previously we have stayed in block three, overlooking the carpark and mountains, this time we elected to upgrade to a junior suite, the room was lovely and composed two rooms, balcony off each and a bathroom, the only problem is the aspect, the balcony's overlook the back streets and bins and are not really nice to sit on and relax, it would seem all suites are on that side of the hotel, so if you like a pool view the suites are not for you. We talked to Sarah and were given the choice of three or four rooms elsewhere in the hotel and we selected a pool view room in the main block, really nice. The fridge was a little small as was the kettle, the decor is clean and simple and in need of a little tlc the shower leaked under the glass screen to soak the floor. Cleaning took place every day and the cleaners are pretty thorough.

The facilities are good, the two pools are clean and maintained, it's a shame that they no longer use the pool bar and the jacuzzi jets in the big pool don't work either. There is a no reserving sun beds policy but it isn't enforced, this was a little annoying sometimes as groups of people would reserve four or six sunbeds in prime positions from four or five in the morning and then not turn up until late afternoon in the instance I'm remembering the men turned up around half three and the women at half four and they were Brits not Germans. At previous four star hotels if beds are left with just towels on for any length of time then the towels are removed to allow other residents to use the beds.

The management/owners have clearly invested in the buildings and the main communal areas are really lovely, painted ceilings that resemble the works of Michael angelo and Chesterfield settees, there is a large TV that members of the football spectators fraternity can sit at away from the rest. Meals are very pleasant and varied enough but very similar, there is a relatively good mix to keep most happy but not so good that you want to eat there every night, there are a lot of really nice restaurants in the area so we elected to eat about half of our meals there. Bar prices are reasonable and its waiter service all the time, the outdoor seating area is especially nice and comfortable and the entertainment a bit pub singer-ish some better than others, music on a few nights was fantastic starting in the seventies through then to modern or contemporary numbers to Turkish, for me watching the Turkish ladies dance to their own music was lovely, Europeans doing their best to join in too.

All in all the Pia Bella is a really nice place to stay, it is family run and the management and staff look to help and make their guests stay as problem free as possible, we will definitely visit again and I really can not recommend highly enough.

Liked — Tranquility and friendliness and price
Disliked — Turkish airlines losing bags
