This is a hotel review for Oscar Resort Hotel in Kyrenia, North Cyprus
“Needs some TLC”
When we arrived in October, the Oscar Resort had obviously been used long and hard during the summer. Our room's carpet needed a really good clean, and the toilet leaked, but this was fixed on the first day. Bathroom could have been cleaner, and grout needed replacing. There were some cracked tiles around the pool area too, which were a hazard.
Having said that, the hotel generally was what I expected from a tourist hotel in Cyprus; plenty of food if not the most exciting, high priced drinks, polite staff who had rather exhausted their supply of tourist smiles, warmish swimming pools, and a walk into town. The hotel beach was frankly, rubbish, in both senses, and there are much better beaches out of town. We took a taxi to the Escape Club (clean, commercialised, but ideal for slobbing out) and hired a car one day to find Golden Beach in the Karpaz peninsula - a long drive but worth it for literally miles of deserted sandy beach. Hint if you hire a car - check what they have BEFORE signing, as some cars are pretty grotty. Insist on a good one.
