The Oscar Resort Hotel, located in Kyrenia, is very appealing to our family. We've been back time and time again to allow the children to have fun in the three swimming pools – which come complete with aquaslides, much to their delight. Meanwhile, we tend to relax in the spa - or simply soak up the sun! Situated next to the new harbour, right on the waterfront, Oscar Resort Hotel enjoys a private garden setting, an easy ride on the 'road train' from the centre of Kyrenia town.

The transfer time from Ercan Airport is just over half an hour, and the hotel itself is just a mile from the town center. Considering this extremely convenient location, there is excellent value on offer here if you visit during the right time of year.

There are a variety of room types on offer at the Oscar, all of which come with the full range of amenities you typically expect from the average Cypriot hotel. The televisions are a little dated, as are the fixtures but everything tends to work, and is kept clean and tidy by a conscientious cleaning staff. The hotel does offer a Wi-fi connection too, but it does come at a charge apparently (for this reason, we tend to avoid using it) which is unfortunate.

The other facilities open for guest use include a massage service, beauty treatments, a spa (including Turkish bath), a Summer kids club and a free road train service which runs from outside the hotel to the town centre three times a day. That final item in the list we found very helpful when ferrying our group into town and back because it allowed us to dodge the burden of taxi-fares, which can be hefty at times.

Whilst the Oscar Hotel will never be compared with the Ritz (not with a straight face anyway) it is a perfectly good family hotel with a nice atmosphere and a high standard of cleanliness.
