Oscar Resort Hotel Review - 10 of 79 Reviews

Being university students we were a bit strapped for cash when we were looking for a reasonably priced break after Christmas. All three of us had been to Cyprus before but no one had visited the Oscar Resort, which seemed to come with average to good reviews when we checked. We booked a single week and hoped for the best considering it was January.

What we found was a clean and tidy hotel that was run by helpful and polite staff who were happy to help us get the most out of our stay at the Oscar Resort. We wanted to find a few local night life spots and the hotel staff called us a taxi and told him where we wanted to go. What we didn't realise was that the hotel was built around a large area of wasteland and it was a good 10-15 minute taxi ride to the nearest decent bars. We would have known this earlier but it was dark when we arrived!

The locals weren't the most friendly of all people and we quickly got the feeling we weren't exactly welcome in some bars. Perhaps out of season isn't a popular time to visit Kyrenia? After that we decided to spend the evenings at the hotel bar, which actually wasn't too bad. This was clearly a hotel that welcomed families and we weren't too sure it was the best choice for student looking for a bit of fun.

Apart from that, it would only be fair to say that the hotel was clean, tidy and fairly priced. The staff were clearly very proud of what they had and it showed in their enthusiasm. We'd suggest this a good place for a family with young children but not for anybody looking for lazy days and long party nights.
