This is a hotel review for Olive Tree Hotel in Kyrenia, North Cyprus
“A wonderful retreat.”
My wife has recently had a big birthday so I contacted Gary from gonorthcyprus to see if they had any good deals for hotels in Kyrenia in order to surprise her. We've used the site before and have always spoken to Gary as we find him so helpful and amusing at the same time! After looking at a few options, I decided to book the Olive Tree Hotel as I liked the idea of having a villa rather than a hotel room. I decided that as it was a special treat, I'd pay the extra to upgrade and I'm so glad I did- the villa was huge and we even had a lovely sitting room area. The villa also had a fridge and small preparation area, including a kettle. It was ideal for those times when you wanted a quick snack, especially before breakfast, as my wife gets up very early! We did, however, make the mistake of leaving our food out and it was taken away, due to hotel policy. I can see that they want guests to use the hotel's restaurant but at the same time, why give you facilities which you aren't allowed to use?
The facilities at the Olive Tree Hotel are excellent: the villas are set in beautiful traditional Cypriot gardens. The hotel also has a very clean, well- maintained pool, although I admit that we didn't use it a lot as we prefer site-seeing and sunbathing on the beautiful Kyrenia beaches. This hotel is the furthest out from the town centre that we've ever stayed, but Gary at gonorthcyprus was very clear about letting us know that we'd might like to book a hire car, so we did and that got us everywhere we wanted to visit.
The staff at the Olive Tree were really helpful and friendly. Their service at breakfast was also excellent and so was the vast array of food!
I think we'd definitely return to the Olive Tree Hotel again, as being that bit further away from the town meant that it was really peaceful and relaxing. It was also the least touristy area of Kyrenia we'd stayed in.
Liked — the villa
Disliked — the fact that you couldn't bring your own food
