This is a hotel review for Merit Park Hotel in Kyrenia, North Cyprus
“October at Mercure”
The Mercure Hotel offers excellent value for money we paid £60/night room and breakfast (booked through KyreniaHotels.co.uk). The location is superb with great views out onto the med. The rooms are average with a small bathroom and a balcony too small to sit on. Also the air con did not work properly.
The facilities are what you would expect with an excellent 40 metre pool and indoor pool with spa. The gym was disapointing even by hotel standards. At the time of our stay the sea front decking area was closed for renovation but this will definitely be a big attraction when it is reopened.
A word of warning if you stay at the hotel at this time of year. Mosquitos were ever present in our room and if you react to their bites like I do, it can make for an uncomfortable time. I accept this is to an extent out of the hotels control but they did not take the issue seriously. I had to buy a can of bug spray.
The staff were generally friendly but a bit "stand offish" , the reception staff who after all are the main point of contact were often rude and unhelpful.
I would stay again but not at this time of year.
Liked — weather & food
Disliked — mosquitos & some hotel staff
