The Merit Crystal Cove is one if our long time favourites in Northern Cyprus. When looking on gonorthcyprus.com for our latest break we spotted it and was instantly taken by the description '..stretching toward the clear waters of the Eastern Mediterranean, Merit Crystal Cove Hotel & Casino is 10 kilometers from Girne's city center and 45 kilometers from Ercan Airport, at the confluence of green and blue right on the sea.' Brilliant decision if I say so myself. After the fast and efficient check in we went up to our room. We had requested a quiet room and that's exactly what we got, with the added bonus of a lovely view. Spacious and comfortable with modern furniture, Wi-Fi and a small balcony to enjoy the view from - bonus!

Even though it was out of the main season and a lot of outlets were shut, we still had a great choice when it came to eating and drinking. This is a lovely hotel and you certainly get more than what you pay for. Delicious food washed down with premium quality drinks is a recipe for disaster when it comes to weight gain, but walking around the lovely grounds and swimming in the spotless pool kept that in check!

There isn't a lot going on in the immediate locale but there are regular buses to go exploring in. If you haven't yet visited Kyrenia or Famagusta I highly recommend it. We didn't bother this time, choosing to spend our time totally relaxing and recharging our batteries. I can see us certainly returning to this one from now on. It offers outstanding value for money and are staffed by people who really go all out to make sure you get the best out of your holiday.
