“An all round impressive booking and holiday experience - Merit Crystal Cove”
Having received an unexpected promotion at work just before Christmas, I decided to treat my girlfriend and her two young kids to a trip away for a week. February was the earliest opportunity I had and as it was a last minute thing I decided to go through a booking firm called Go North Cyprus Holidays. The advisor was actually really good and helped arrange everything with a single phone call. His name was Gary and I'd certainly recommend asking for him if any readers decide to use the same company at any stage. Not only did he reel off a list of hotels suitable for us considering we had kids with us and wanted to be close to things to do, but he also sorted the travel arrangements from beginning to end. One of the most useful things was having a taxi waiting for us at the airport – it may not seem much to others, but when you have kids to think about, hunting around for a spare taxi after a flight is the last thing you want to be doing! My other half did a few price comparisons just to ensure the prices we were quoted were reasonable and she said shed struggled to match them, so I'm more than happy with the service received.
The hotel then – I'm not easily impressed but id say the hotel we chose (Merit Crystal Cove) was a very good / excellent. I spoke to a few other guests who were more familiar with the Kyrenia area and Northern Cyprus in general, and the consensus seemed to be that the Merit Crystal Cove was one of a handful of solid choices in these parts. The staff were polite and professional – not really a bonus as this is what you'd expect for a paid stay, but the food was good too (not always the case in some hotels that rely on tourism as the main source of revenue. The facilities included a spa, pool, bar, restaurant, a decent hotel gym and wi-fi internet access for those who need it. Just a note, there is a casino, so I'm not sure it's 100% family aimed, but it didnt cause a problem at all for us and we had a superb time.
Liked — A simple and smooth booking experience and a relaxing location
Disliked — The casino may put some families with kids off
