Life Hotel Review - 7 of 19 Reviews

Thanks to a delayed flight we arrived at the Life hotel in Northern Cyprus much later than planned, and in the dark were quite confused by the layout. The hotel is a bit back to front, so what initially appears to be the front is in fact the back; a detail which caused us some confusion when trying to get in.

When we finally made our way to the reception we were very pleasantly surprised. It was nicely decorated (which is unusual, in our experience, for hotels in this region) and the welcome we received (despite getting there so late at night) was incredibly warm. The reception backs onto the bar and restaurant, which provides an amazing view of the coast during the daytime. The food provided in the restaurant is very nice, but the waiter service could definitely do with some improvement. Nobody wants to get up in the middle of a meal to go to the bar to fetch drinks, and it would have been nice to have been offered starters or dessert. This was echoed by the other guests we met, who had paid for half-board but ate-out during their stay anyway due to the poor service.

That said, this is a fantastic place to stay in many respects. It's kept impeccably clean, and is surprisingly quiet when compared with other hotels nearby. As I mentioned before, the view from one side of the hotel is very impressive, and we were kept very comfortable by the attentions of the manager and his staff. Air conditioning is free, too- an essential in the height of Summer.

We will almost certainly be returning to North Cyprus and the Life Hotel next year. We did mention our concerns about the restaurant to the manager, and hopefully he'll rectify those issues before our next visit.
