It is not that easy to really discover another culture if you are staying in a hotel, but we loved Lapida Garden Hotel as it allowed us to experience an authentic taste of Cypriot life. This quiet family establishment that we found on GoNorthCyprus.com is situated in Lapta, away from the larger resorts along the coast. This turned out to be a blessing, as we not only had exquisite views of the mountains and sea, but we got to enjoy a really lovely family atmosphere we would not have found elsewhere. As soon as we arrived, we were welcomed by owner Fethi, his family and staff and were made to feel at home. The grandmother cooks all the delicious meals and allowed us to really experience Turkish Cypriot food the way it is meant to be. We were so impressed, we even took part in her cookery class to learn her secrets! We loved all the meals, but especially the BBQ night where we got to really know Fethi's family and discover his wealth of knowledge about the area. It is definitely worth taking advantage of this as he offers sightseeing tours in his own 4x4 to anywhere that takes your fancy! Overall a great time!
