Hotel Sempati Review - 19 of 30 Reviews

We've been to southern Cyprus loads of time and finally ventured up north. We looked for a travel site dedicated to this area and came across Go North Cyprus. I took advantage of their free phone number as I had a few questions. I spoke to a lovely girl called Mandy who was very knowledgeable and gave me a lot if info on the Sempati. From the moment we arrived we knew we had made the right decision, thank you Mandy! The hotel stands among beautiful grounds with loads of greenery and trees. A very quick check that involved a room change! The Sempati doesn't have a lift, which Mandy had told us, but as it's only 3 storey's we weren't bothered as we consider ourselves quite sprightly. The manager had other ideas however and our 2nd floor room was swiftly changed for one on the ground floor. We were delighted when we saw our room and it was way bigger than we expected. It was warm when we got there and the air con was spot on. Our room had a sea view and overlooked the pool and I was delighted to see a selection of inflatables for grown ups :-) I'm not a strong swimmer and as they are banned in so many hotels I had assumed I would only be able to cool down in the shallow end.

We loved the laid back ambience of the hotel, which is at odds with how hard the staff work. Well done to them for never making us feel rushed. It was a very pleasant surprise to discover there was no charge for the safety deposit boxes and while we normally avoid mini bars we made full use of ours as the prices are the same as at the bar. Other hotels should take note of this as they would sell more! We stayed on a half board basis and this was the only thing that worried me as I'm a pretty fussy eater. I'm glad to report that the choice is so plentiful I never struggled finding something I enjoyed. The dolmus bus came to the hotel 3 times a day and we caught the earliest one into Kyrenia. I have heard about this place from friends and certainly wasn't disappointed. The heat was very intense though and we made good use of the umbrellas at the harbour side bars. There was a few cats and dogs around the place but they weren't skinny strays and certainly not wild. A few guests weren't happy about this and all I can say is that they must never have been to Cyprus before as there is a chronic overpopulation of dogs and cats and they should have been grateful these weren't feral as they are in most parts of the island. We will be returning to the Sempati and hope to take a few of our friends with us.
