I treated my family to a late summer holiday to North Cyprus and we had a fantastic time, although I paid a lot of money for the hotel which wasn't quite up to standard.

The facilities at the Cratos Premium Hotel are amazing- we never needed to leave the hotel because it even has its own beach and mini port! My wife loved the spa and the kids thought that the huge pools were amazing.

The look of the hotel is also very sleek- it's clean and well maintained, with the touch of luxury you'd expect from a five star hotel. The bedrooms were also really comfortable and everything seemed fairly new and fresh. However, I've stayed in much smaller, cheaper hotels where the tea and coffee is topped up on a daily basis. This hotel gives you one lot and anything extra is charged to your room! I certainly didn't pay for a 5 star hotel expecting that.

Another thing that let the hotel down was its poor service. A lot of the staff seemed relatively clueless about where things were, such as the iron and ironing board we requested. The service in the bar and restaurants was also really slow. We'd read about checking in being a potential nightmare at the Cratos Premium, but luckily we didn't have any glitches as we'd booked through the excellent website- Go North Cyprus. But we did hear of guests complaining whilst we were there.

On face value, the Cratos Premium is everything you'd expect to see from a five star hotel and thankfully, we really did have a lovely holiday. However, value for money it is not! If something is classed as five star, you'd expect every aspect to be excellent, including the service.
