We had a bit of a disapppointing start to our holiday, as we arrived in the early hours of the morning and were told our room was not available. We therefore had to unpack our overnight things and then re-pack them in the morning before moving to the room we had booked.

We had read quite a lot about the hotel before we went, but did not allow that to influence our opinion either way. Yes - we did have trouble with the water supply, but quickly got used to it and it didn't cause us any problems.

Yes - we did only get one egg offered for breakfast, but that again didn't bother us. We ate out at most of the restaurants around the harbour, and one egg for breakfast we quite enough.

The room we had was clean and sufficient for our needs.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and we were made to feel most welcome.

Overall, If you are looking for luxury, the British Hotel is not for you.

If you are looking for a clean, friendly hotel in a beautiful and handy position overlooking the harbour, then this is the one for you.

Having set out the above, I would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel, and would certainly consider going back again.

Disliked — Not being able to have a good shower with the poor water pressure
