Bellapais Monastery Village Review - 40 of 65 Reviews

I have to say that my husband and I are a little bit obsessed with North Cyprus. We've visited every year for the last 4. We always stay near or in Kyrenia town, as we love being close to the local amenities. However, this time we fancied something a little different. I spoke to Mandy from Go North Cyprus and she suggested Bellapais as an historic town with wonderful views. I cannot thank her enough for suggesting it because I think we had the best holiday yet!

We stayed at the Bellapais Monastery Hotel which was just beautiful. The whole place had a really tranquil feel to it, and situated in the mountains, its grounds and views were stunning. I spent lots of time in the morning staring out of my bedroom window! (And waiting for my husband to surface!)

Our hotel room was in the main part of the complex. It was light and spacious, with all of the facilities that you'd expect. What I liked the best was the fact that we had a shower cubicle separate to the rest of the bathroom. I often find that most bathrooms abroad are like wet rooms or have a shower over a bath.

Apart from the surroundings, I think the highlight for my husband and I was the hotel food. We booked bed and breakfast but had so many evening meals there as well. The portions were good and everything was fresh and tasty. There was plenty of choice at breakfast too. It's good really that we did like the food because Kyrenia was a bus ride away (not something we were used to!) and it was more difficult to go out in the evenings. Saying that though, the hotel are really good because they have quite a regular shuttle bus service.

The hotel staff were as friendly and helpful as we've found but we do find that all North Cyprus hotels tend to have that personal touch, unlike so many sky-scraper type resorts.

We are definitely going back to North Cyprus next year and may well be booking the Bellapais Monastery again.
