Bellapais Monastery Village Review - 19 of 65 Reviews

Having just returned from the Bellapais, I found the food excellent, OK so not a lot of Turkish food but they do cater for mainly British tourists and it was nice to have al-carte breakfast and dinner without queing at a buffet! I was impresssed by the friendly and extremely smart and attention to detail staff. May is a good time to visit as the hotel is quieter and you can easily get a sunbed. Its not a hotel for the elderley, infirm and disabled as there are a lot of steps as said before and the stairs to the mezzanine bedrooms could be a problem if you've had too much to drink! I was amazed at my end of holiday bill - you sign for all drinks and lunches and my bill came to just £55, and believe me I signed a lot of receipts!!

If you go to Nicosia, don't bother crossing the border into the South - the Turksish side is much better with a local market and shops. We crossed over into the South and were back in 15 minutes! No character at all and its a pain queing to get your passport visa stamped in the heat.

Make sure you take your own tea bags, they have that awful Liptons tea in the hotel and none in your room although they provide a kettle!

Ensure you take a few Euros, as if you fly into Larnaca they don't accept Turkish Lira and if you pay in stirling they only take notes, not coins. Paid £8 for a coke and a sandwich.
