Topset Hotel Review - 7 of 21 Reviews

We stayed at the Topset Hotel for a week last August and were very impressed! It was one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at in North Cyprus. The hotel staff were very professional and helpful, and the waiters are always cheerful, in spite of the long hours they work. We were given a large, lovely room with an ocean view, and we found it to be comfortable and very nice. It was two-tiered, with steps leading up to the living area, and more steps leading up to the bedroom.

The Topset Hotel is located right next to the ocean, with access to the Northern Cyprus waters. Although there's no actual beach, you can still swim if you want. We got in the water a few times and found it to be warm, with plenty of fish if one wanted to do a little fishing. For sunbathing, the pool was ideal – quiet and peaceful, with plenty of lounge chairs available and shady in some areas, if you can't take the sun all day.

The food in the hotel dining room was exceptional. In the evenings, they offered an extensive buffet, which caused us to be inclined to eat more often in the dining room than we probably would have otherwise. The selections were plentiful and we never got bored with the food. The Topset hotel actually grows some of it's own produce, so it's usually very fresh. Breakfast was a bit sketchy, with only a few selections, but still delicious. Nearby, there's a well-stocked supermarket for snacks or accessories in case you get to wanting a little something extra or if you need something you forgot to bring.

The only negatives to staying in this hotel were it's close proximity to a mosque and a local tavern, both of which were inclined to wake us up in the middle of the night. The mosque had prayer calls at 4 am every morning and the tavern played loud music some nights until the wee hours. If you're a light sleeper, these could be significant factors in your decision to stay here, but if you can overlook the noise concerns, it's an ideal place for a relaxing vacation in North Cyprus. During the day, it's usually quiet and peaceful.

Because of the driving distance to the airport and the long wait for check-in once there, we realized too late we should have left the hotel earlier for our flight back. We made the plane, but barely. I'd suggest for anyone planning to leave from Larnaca to plan on leaving 5 hours earlier than your flight, just to be on the safe side.
