Acapulco Beach Club Hotel Review - 9 of 127 Reviews

First the good stuff. The Acapulco has the best and cleanest beach in North Cyprus, and our two small kids loved it. It was busy but not overcrowded (late September) and on a couple of days when the wind blew, the kids enjoyed the swimming pools instead. We got a bungalow which gave us space to relax, but it were dark and the air con was pretty much on its last legs. Staff were really friendly towards the kids. Food was uninspiring but loads of it, which pleased my ever-hungry husband.

The not so good stuff. Drinks prices were high, and the hotel had a policy of no food or drink brought in, so even water was expensive - glad we didn't go in high summer when keeping the kids hydrated would have been an expensive challenge! Our bathroom was dated and needed renovation, but it was clean and fine for us.

Odd stuff. For some reason, everyone in North Cyprus considers nescafé a real treat and charge a fortune for it - we had to go into Kyrenia and almost beg a restaurant owner to give us a proper Turkish coffee - weird!

North Cyprus stuff. Our hire car was pretty much essential for exploring North Cyprus, and for popping down to Kyrenia town, even if parking was a bit of a nightmare. Kids enjoyed the castle in the mountains and Kyrenia castle, I liked wandering around old Kyrenia, husband enjoyed the local curry restaurant we went to one night in Catelkoy! We probably would have gone down to the ruins of Salamis and Famagusta if the kids had been older, but it was a long car trip for them to go there and back in a day.
