Palm Beach Hotel Review - 8 of 41 Reviews

We got to the newly reopened Arkin Palm Beach Hotel in the middle of a mild october. The place is not easily overlooked, given the not-so-subtle blue and white colour scheme, although like some others have mentioned we did find getting to the entrance a bit of a chore. For reference, you need to go through the bus station to find it, and it is smaller than you might expect.

Our room was ready for us on arrival, and clearly some effort had been made to lend it a luxury-feel, even though it was one of the cheaper ones available. Dressing gowns and slippers had been provided and the place was inundated with throw pillows and cushions- not strictly necessary in such heat but it was actually quite nice to see that someone had bothered to make us as comfortable as possible. The room could have done with a bit more light, but in retrospect we should have booked a room with a balcony and then we wouldn't have to worry about it. The bathroom was really well decked out too.

On the bottom floor of the hotel there is a really sophisticated looking bar that looks out over the sea. This, in combination with the new restaurant (that served some of the best food I've ever eaten on any holiday) was responsible for distracting us for large periods of our trip. The view along with the relaxed atmosphere made it difficult to tear ourselves away to see the rest of the surrounding areas. The hotel's private beach, which we'd heard so much about, is amazing. It's safe, sandy, and rarely crowded at all. There's another bar and restaurant out there that we frequented on occasion (are you noticing a theme here?), both very nice indeed but not quite a match for the ones inside the premises. The new Palm Beach proved, at least for us, a cut above the various competitor hotels we've used over the years. We would definitely like a balcony room next time but other than that it was difficult to fault.
