Ada Beach Hotel Kyrenia North Cyprus

This is a hotel review for Ada Beach Hotel in Kyrenia, North Cyprus

“Perhaps the Ada Hotel wasn't for us”

I felt a little let down after visiting the Ada Hotel. My husband and I stayed here recently and although most about it was good, we felt they were misleading with their advertising. This place is definitely not what we expected. We were led to believe that it was more of an upscale, luxurious type of hotel, when in reality it's very small and far from luxurious. Our room reminded me of a discount hotel chain, although it was adequate for us. The bathroom was miniscule - very disappointing. I was hoping for a garden tub, or at the very least, a vanity large enough so that both my husband and I could get ready at the same time.

On the upside, our room did have an excellent view of the sea – in fact it was quite breathtaking. We did also have a balcony so we spent a little time admiring the view from our balcony.

The pool area at the Ada was tranquil and pretty, and there is access to the water from the Ada Hotel, so we enjoyed that as well. There's plenty of space, both at the pool and at the seaside bathing areas. We appreciated that, as we enjoy being able to converse without being overheard by everyone. The whole area around the hotel is beautiful, with nice views seaside and plenty of foliage.

It is a good distance out of town, however, so unless you plan to rent a car or don't mind paying for a taxi every time you go somewhere, expect that you'll be spending most of your time at the hotel. There is a bus that stops nearby, which you can ride to town and it's cheap. I'd advise against walking. The road is narrow and there's no sidewalk or anyplace to walk beside it. Also there's lots of construction going on in that area, so you get big trucks lumbering by constantly. In other words, it's really not safe to walk along the side of the road. If you want to spend time sightseeing in Kyrenia, just plan on spending a bit more for a car rental. We did manage to make it into Kyrenia a couple of times but were disappointed in the town itself. There were a couple of youths fighting in the street the first time we went there, so we immediately got the impression it wasn't safe; however this could have been an isolated incident. We did enjoy the time we spent in the harbour area, however.

Doubtful we'll be back to North Cyprus anytime soon. Between the letdown of the hotel and the local construction, which we hear isn't going to stop anytime soon, we feel that it isn't really the ideal vacation spot and we will probably choose another area to vacation in next time.

Liked — excellent sea views from our room
Disliked — small rooms, misleading advertising.
